innogy IME and Spehrity conduct Blockchain strategy workshop with DEWA Top management

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), organised a workshop that discussed the latest developments and best global practices in blockchain, as well as the possibilities of applying it in the 4th Industrial Revolution. The workshop was attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA. The workshop supports the objectives of the Dubai Blockchain Strategy, which aims to make Dubai the first government in the world to implement all feasible transactions through this future network by 2020.

The workshop was hosted by Pierre Samaties, CEO of innogy International Middle East, and Dr. Carsten Stoecker, CEO of Spherity GmbH and member of the World Economic Forum Future Council.

The workshop discussed blockchain, eco-friendly solutions, as well as governance and applications supporting smart cities. The participants also discussed the importance of enhancing the integration of blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), modern cryptography, and disruptive technologies that accompany the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

“We were honored to be invited by DEWA’s top management to discuss the application of Blockchain and digital twin in the context of the 4th industrial revolution. Our unique approach, combining in depth understanding of national strategies and hands-on-experience in implementing Blockchain pilots allows us to develop actionable Blockchain strategies for government authorities and companies” says Pierre Samaties, Managing Partner & CEO of innogy International Middle East LLC.

“The UAE in general and DEWA in particular are among the world top leaders in embracing the 4th industrial revolution. We are now looking forward to work in the UAE on field testing Blockchain Digital Twins and Data Audit Trails. Interoperable asset identities and data audit trails are basic and powerful features that can improve and automate many of today’s industrial processes by retrofitting existing infrastructures with Blockchain technology.” says Dr. Carsten Stöcker, CEO Spherity GmbH.
